From Hanoi roots to Calgary tables
Our Story
Emily Do grew up surrounded by the rich food traditions of Vietnam. Her family, originally from Hanoi, made pho the classic way with beef bones, green onions, and hours of slow cooking. Born in Saigon, she also grew up with southern touches like bean sprouts and fresh herbs, giving the dish a slightly different taste. After moving abroad, Emily often missed the familiar flavours she grew up with.
With support from her husband, Steve, who has a background in Japanese cuisine, and guidance from her family who spent decades serving pho in Paris, she decided to bring these traditions to Calgary.
At Miss Do, each bowl carries that history. The broth is slow cooked for more than 16 hours, carefully layered with flavour and memories. Emily hopes every guest feels the comfort she feels with each spoonful, a connection to Vietnam, and a taste that lingers long after the meal is finished.
“When I cook pho, I think of my family. I hope you do too.”
